The book of Mirdad

“Interestingly philosophical and strangely confusing”, profound and spiritual.

I have read the book twice, once in English and second time in Hindi recently. When I read The book of Mirdad I had a strange feeling both the times, I either get into profound silence or an eternal turmoil of thoughts. I try to comprehend and I try to fathom the depth of the book. I believe I can write a lot on, about, around and in relation to the book. However, with my limited knowledge and depth of many things, this blog is sharing the following from the book of Mirdad –

‘Less possessing – less possessed.
More possessing – more possessed.
More possessed – less accessed.
Less possessed – more accessed.’

In Hindi it is –

कम परिगृह – कम बंधन।
अधिक परिगृह – अधिक बंधन।
अधिक बंधन – कम मोल।
कम बंधन – अधिक मोल।

I liked many parts and I would love to share those at occasion in future blogs. You can buy and read a Hindi translation of the same book at throw-away price from Radha Swami Satsang Beas or the English version at The Book Of Mirdad

In Hindi, translation is not simple and literal translation generally lose meaning, I am trying here – Jitna kam aap apne app ko bandhte hain( cheeso se, saamano se, duniyadari se) wootna hi kum aap bandhte hain, jitna jyada aap apne aap ko bandhte hain wootna jyada aap bandhte hain, jyada bandhte hain to kam uplabdh hote hain jeevan ke liye, kam bandhte hai to jyada uplabdh hote hain jeevan ke liye.

This I got it from above Less possessing…………………

Hi Ved you are right, the translation losses its meaning Lost in translation. You are really very close to the actual meaning. Radha Sawmi Satsang Nyas has also done translation of The book of Mirdad. This translation is very good. I have read the Hindi once and English twice. Good book

I am stunned! If you have studied and assimilated The Book Of Mirdad, you don’t need gurus. Not even me.

Have you read that book? Whenever I read it, I read it one chapter at a time or one page… closed the book and thought what it means. at times reread sentence to understand what it means.. wonderful book.

But does it mean that if someone has read that book, one does not need Guru? I am not sure.

Hey Sumit, sorry for delayed response. I am not sure about Delhi or the publisher. I know Radha Saomi Satsang Beas used to publish Hindi translation of the book. Please check with them or their center nearby your area. Search on the site – https://www.rssb.org/
